There are several additional benefits that can be realised, such as increased spending in the local economy through participation of local enterprises, growing entrepreneurship pool among the country’s citizens and improved delivery of infrastructure using competent contractors. It is with that the CDA has dedicated tailor-made initiatives to support emerging contractors in order operate sustainable business that contribute towards job creation.
Information Sessions
Information sessions are hosted to expose both emerging contractors and interested individuals to the construction industry. The sessions typically involve highlighting the importance of compliance with the various construction industry councils and requirements to be compliant with them. While also providing advice on technical issues, finance, and databases for work opportunities.
Contractor Training
The construction industry plays a vital role in South Africa’s socio-economic development and is a significant contributor to post-Covid economic recovery. It also plays a crucial role in the development of skills, job creation and the regeneration of the township economy.
Annually, the Contractor and Developer Academy incubates a cohort of emerging contractors through annual contractor training course, advisory & technical support, and mentorship for them to participate effectively in the construction industry.
The CDA also plays a crucial role on a higher level, where it advocates for the creation of an enabling environment for contractors to access work opportunities.
